Connect Garmin to Shape
Updated November 1, 2026
Connecting Garmin takes a minute. Your recent history usually follows within a few minutes, and new workouts arrive on their own.
Connect
- 1
Open Connections
In Shape, go to Settings → Connections and pick Garmin. It works the same from the web and the iPhone app.
- 2
Sign in to Garmin
Garmin opens its own page and asks what to share with Shape.
- 3
Turn on Historical Data
Garmin turns everything on by default except Historical Data. Turn that on too, or Shape can’t get your workouts from before you connected.
What comes through
- Your workouts, with heart rate, pace, power, laps and routes when the watch recorded them.
- Sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, stress, Body Battery, VO2 max, body composition and steps. If any of it is missing, see Find missing data.
How far back it goes
Garmin only shares the 30 days before you connect, plus everything recorded after. Those 30 days usually arrive within a few minutes, but can take up to a few hours, so an empty calendar straight after connecting is normal.
For anything older, import your full Garmin history.
Change permissions or disconnect
To change what Garmin shares, connect again from Settings → Connections, or use the Garmin Connect app under Settings → Connected Apps.
To disconnect, open Garmin in Settings → Connections. Nothing new arrives after that.
